Congressional candidate has foot surgery

Democratic congressional candidate Kevin Boyd will be in a wheelchair when he debates Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-3rd, on Friday.

Boyd's campaign said Monday that he was released from Parkview Regional Medical Center on Sunday evening after emergency surgery on his left foot. Boyd, 57, was admitted to the hospital on Thursday because of a minor infection, campaign manager Alex Grant said in an email.

Grant said Boyd will debate Stutzman at 7 p.m. Friday at IPFW's Rhinehart Music Center as scheduled, "although he will still be in the recovery process and temporarily confined to a wheelchair during the broadcast."

Grant also said, "His spirits are great and he is focused on the election."
