A Fort Wayne man was sentenced to 20 years in prison Monday in Allen Superior Court for repeatedly molesting a young boy he knew.
Deric Conn, 24, pleaded guilty in late September to one of six counts of child molesting against him, admitting to sexually assaulting the boy.
Conn bribed the boy with money and gifts, threatened to kill himself, and harassed the boy to get him to submit to repeated molestations, according to court documents.
Some of the gifts Conn gave the boy included an Airsoft pellet gun, an Xbox video game system and headphones, according to court documents.
Under the terms of a plea agreement with prosecutors, Conn was sentenced to a total of 30 years in prison on the charge of Class A felony child molesting. Twenty years of the sentence was ordered to be served, with the rest suspended.
Conn must spend three years on probation upon his release and register as a sex offender.
Because of the nature of the crime to which he admitted, Conn will be a “credit restricted felon,” which means he will not receive the same amount of time knocked off his sentence for good behavior as other inmates.
