Steuben police dog flushes out meth lab

A police K-9 unit with the Steuben County Sheriff’s Office sniffed out a methamphetamine lab during a traffic stop early Monday.

Police arrested 36-year-old Ryan Ahlersmeyer, of Angola, for one felony count of manufacturing methamphetamine after pulling him over for speeding on County Road 100 North near County Road 250 East at about 1:15 a.m.

During the traffic stop, a police dog alerted officers to the smell of drugs in the car, which led to the discovery of a one-pot meth lab, according to police.
