It was an odd sight to see Ry Taliaferro up in the stands at Northrop during the North Side-East Noble volleyball sectional match Wednesday.

After more than three decades of the sidelines of as the Redskins head coach, Taliaferro is retired and has been replaced by long-time assistant coach Neal Putt.

North Side played a spirited match in Taliaferro's presence, fighting back to take East Noble to four games before succumbing 25-11, 25-20, 22-25, 25-18.
