Robber sought in Wells Fargo heist

A man armed with a knife robbed a bank Wednesday afternoon in south Fort Wayne, city police said.

The man came into the Wells Fargo branch at 3902 S. Clinton St., near Rudisill Boulevard, and approached a teller. He displayed the knife, demanded cash and left with an undisclosed amount of money. He was last seen heading southwest behind the McDonald's restaurant next door.

Several customers and employees were in the bank at the time. No injuries were reported.

Police were dispatched to the bank shortly after 3 p.m. The robber was described as black, with a pink discoloration on his lower lip. He was wearing a white baseball hat, slightly tinted glasses and a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt. He also had a cane, but investigators believe it may have been a prop.

Police have released surveillance images of the robber. Anyone who knows his whereabouts is asked to call police at 427-1222 or Crime Stoppers at 436-7867.
