The retiring director of IPFW’s Community Research Institute received Indiana’s top honor during a surprise party Tuesday at Parkview Field, the university announced.One trucker died and one was injured in a crash Wednesday morning on U.S. 30 in Whitley County, southeast of Columbia City.
A freight truck going west was stopped at County Road 300 East shortly after 9 a.m. when a tractor-trailer rig rear-ended it, according to a statement issued by the county sheriff’s department.
It said one of the drivers died at the scene. The other was taken to a hospital in Fort Wayne with chest and head pain, the statement said.
The drivers were not identified, pending notifications of next of kin.
