The Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission gave Aqua Indiana permission to detach itself from Fort Wayne’s water utility system.
On Wednesday, the commission sent the private water utility a letter saying the emergency connection to the city’s water system was no longer necessary because the drought conditions that prompted it are gone.
But according to the letter, state officials continue to monitor complaints about Aqua Indiana, as well as investigate issues related to Aqua Indiana’s capacity and ability to serve the Aboite Township area.
