Homestead's postseason futility continues

It's getting frustratingly consistent for Homestead in the postseason.

The Spartans have gone undefeated in the regular season in back-to-back years and have lost in the first round of the Class 5A sectional both times – 44-41 to Kokomo last year and 30-20 this year to Snider.

Snider (10-0) has now beaten Homestead (9-1) in nine of the last 11 postseason matchups. It was only the fourth time the two teams have met as unbeaten teams.

"I am proud of my guys," said Homestead coach Chad Zolman, whose team rallied from a 23-0 deficit to make the game interesting at the end.

Homestead also lost 37-29 to Snider in the 2010 sectional.

Despite all the regular season success (51 non-postseason wins in the last six years), the Spartans have won only three sectional titles – 1993, 1998 and 2006.
