Romney to visit Defiance

Media and Defiance, Ohio, officials are reporting that Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney will campaign Thursday night in the community.

The Toledo Blade reported Tuesday that Romney will have a rally Thursday night at the Defiance High School football field. According to the newspaper, Defiance Mayor Bob Armstrong said 14,000 tickets will be available. He also said country singers Trace Adkins and Wynona Judd are expected to be at the rally.

The Washington Post and other media also are reporting Romney will be in Defiance on Thursday. The Post noted that GOP presidential candidate John McCain visited Defiance shortly before the 2008 election.

And Defiance officials notified The Journal Gazette that trick-or-treat hours scheduled for Thursday have been changed to Oct. 30 because of Romney's expected visit.

Romney's son, Matt, visited a Defiance restaurant for a campaign event last week.
