Indiana senior forward Derek Elston could be out two months after suffering a torn meniscus, according to multiple reports.
Inside Indiana first reported the injury. Elston could miss between 4-8 weeks, according to reports. He is expected to have surgery later this week.
Elston appeared in 34 games last year and made four starts.
He averaged 4.2 points and 2.4 rebounds in 12.3 minutes per game. Elston was 16 for 29 (52.2 percent) from three-point territory. He had 13 assists and 10 blocks.
The 6-foot-9 Elston has averaged 5 points and 3.4 rebounds in his three years with the Hoosiers.
Elston averaged 5.8 points and 4.1 rebounds as a freshman and 4.9 points and 3.7 rebounds as a sophomore.
Elston is expected to play a role off the bench this season for IU. Fellow Indiana forwards Hanner Mosquera-Perea (foot) and Will Sheehey (ankle) did not participate at Indiana's Hoosier Hysteria event last Saturday.
