Alicia Keys is launching a storytelling app for kids.

“The Journals of Mama Mae and LeeLee” is about a young New York City girl’s relationship with her wise grandmother. It will be released today for $3.99 and is inspired by Keys’ relationship with her grandmother.

She said in an interview Wednesday raising her son was part of the app’s inspiration because she has been introducing him to children’s TV shows and DVDs.

CW now on demand

The CW is coming to video on demand for the first time today.

On Wednesday, the broadcast network announced a deal with Comcast for its prime-time series to be available to subscribers through the cable-provider’s Xfinity On Demand service.

Episodes of series such as “Arrow,” “The Vampire Diaries” and “America’s Next Top Model” will be available the day after they air.

The other broadcast networks already make programming available through on-demand services.
