An Albion man and his granddaughter riding an all-terrain vehicle avoided serious injuries in a crash Thursday afternoon in Noble County, according to Indiana conservation officers.
Tommie Higginbotham, 68, was driving a John Deere Gator on a private driveway in the 3300 block of County Road East 200 North, with his 4-year-old granddaughter as his passenger.
For an unknown reason, Higginbotham lost control of the ATV, and it flipped, landing in a ditch next to the driveway. He and the girl were thrown off the vehicle.
Emergency workers were sent to the scene about 3:25 p.m., and Higginbotham was taken to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne to be treated for scrapes to his elbow and head.
The girl was not hurt.
