Irish move up to No.4

Notre Dame took a small step up the polls today after Saturday night’s 30-13 win at Oklahoma.

The Irish moved up a spot to No. 4 in the Associated Press Top 25 and the USA Today coaches poll. Another important move could come tonight when the BCS standings are released.

CBSsports.com analyst Jerry Palm is projecting Notre Dame to be at No. 3 in the BCS when it is released tonight behind Alabama and Kansas State.

The Irish’s No. 4 spot in the AP and coaches polls is the highest they have been since reaching No. 3 in 2006. Notre Dame is behind Alabama, Oregon and Kansas State in both polls.

Notre Dame is 8-0 for the first time since 2002 when it notched its eighth win of the season with a victory at Florida State. But that team went on to loss to Boston College the next week and dropped three of its last five games to finish 10-3.
