Hit-and-run victim badly injured

A man was badly hurt when he was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run Sunday that stemmed from an altercation in southeast Fort Wayne, city police said.

The man was taken to a hospital in serious condition and was later downgraded to critical condition. His identity was not released.

Police were dispatched about 12:30 p.m. to the scene of the collision in the 4500 block of Plaza Drive, east of South Anthony Boulevard.

An investigation found that the man was struck by a vehicle during the altercation on Plaza Drive. It’s not clear whether the collision was intentional or accidental, police said.

Seeking to gather more information, investigators were interviewing multiple witnesses. Police did not give a description of the vehicle or its driver. No arrests have been made.
