Diggins named preseason All-American

Notre Dame guard Skylar Diggins was a unanimous selection to The Associated Press' women's basketball preseason All-America team, which was released today.

Diggins was one of three unanimous choices joining Baylor's Brittney Griner and Delaware's Elena Delle Donne.

Also on the preseaon team are Stanford's Chiney Ogwumike, Maryland's Alyssa Thomas and Baylor's Odyssey Sims. Thomas and Sims tied for the final spot for the first time in the preseason team's history.

Diggins, a senior, averaged a team-high 16.8 points and 5.7 assists last season as Notre Dame reached the national championship game for a second time in a row.

Notre Dame enters this season ranked No. 7 after going 35-4 and losing to Baylor in the NCAA tournament championshp game last year.
