Mastodons prepare for soccer tournament

IPFW is one of the hottest teams coming into the Summit League women's soccer tournament to be held this weekend in Brookings, S.D.

The Mastodons take a 9-7-1 overall record into their 6 p.m. semifinal matchup against North Dakota State (8-9) on Friday.

In its last seven matches, IPFW has won five, lost once and tied once. Earlier this season, IPFW defeated North Dakota State, 1-0.

The Mastodons also have beaten top-seeded Oakland (9-5-3), 3-2, but lost to Oakland's tournament opponent, Western Illinois. The Leathernecks defeated the Mastodons, 1-0.

The championship game will be played Nov. 4 at a time to be determined. The winner will advance to the NCAA tournament.
