KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Paced by a hat trick by Thomas Beauregard, the Komets defeated the Kalamazoo Wings 6-5 this afternoon and nabbed their first three-game winning streak in the ECHL.

Beauregard, signed as a free agent this week, has four goals in his first two games with Fort Wayne. One of his goals today was into an empty net.

The Komets played a poor first period and it was tied at 1, but they scored five straight goals late in the first and in the second periods, combined, to take control of the game at Wings Stadium, where about 250 Fort Wayne fans attended.

Goaltender Marco Cousineau left the game with an unknown injury late in the third period and Charlie Effinger sealed the victory.
