Salamonie offers kids deer class

– Deer school is in session at Salamonie Interpretive Center.

Salamonie Preschool will conduct classes Nov. 14 on white-tailed deer for preschool-age children and their adults at the Salamonie Interpretive Center in Lost Bridge West Recreation Area in Andrews. Classes will be offered from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 to 2 p.m. and are designed to enhance preschoolers’ basic education – learning letters, building a craft, social interaction and spending time outdoors.

The program fee is $2 per child. Advance registration may be made by calling Upper Wabash Interpretive Services at 260-468-2127

Ohio shooting club sets turkey shoot

The Willshire Sportsman’s Club will have a Turkey Shoot at noon today on the club grounds two miles east of Willshire, Ohio, on Ohio 81. Only 12-gauge shotguns will be permitted and shells will be furnished. Youth shoots for children aged 16 and younger will be held. Only 20-gauge shotguns will be permitted for the youth shoots and shells will be furnished.

Seniors luncheon set for Salamonie

The monthly Seniors Carry-In Luncheon is scheduled for noon Monday at Salamonie Interpretive Center in Andrews.

Interpretive naturalist Lynnanne Fager will speak on “The Ins and Outs of Exotic Pets” and have several pets on display.

The Carry-In Luncheon is open to seniors age 50 and older and attendees should bring their own table service, a prepared dish to share and a $1 donation to defray the cost of the main provided dish.

2013 Fort4Fitness registration open

Registration is open for the 2013 Fort4Fitness Half Marathon, 10K and 4 Mile Run/Walk.

The sixth-annual Fall Festival will take place Sept. 27-28, 2013, at Parkview Field.

Participants who sign up early are eligible for discounted registration rates, and no price increase in 2013. Race fees are the same as the 2012 race.
