TOLEDO, Ohio -- Stephon Thorne's third-period goal at the Huntington Center, in a rare morning game, gave the Komets a 4-2 victory over the Toledo Walleye.
On School Appreciation Day, the Komets trailed 2-1 in the third period before Josh Brittain scored as he was upended and Thorne found the net just off a faceoff in the Toledo end.
Brett Smith added an empty-net goal.
Attendance was 6,802, most of whom were boisterous students from the Toledo area.
The Komets (6-2-1) have won four straight games, three of which were on the road.
Fort Wayne was without forward Lincoln Kaleigh Schrock, who had four teeth pulled this week. Defenseman Brent Henley was the alternate captain in his place.
Scouts from at least two NHL teams -- Anaheim and Chicago -- were in the building.
