World War II items in Dec. 8 auction

Dozens of World War II military trucks and vehicles, and more than 100 pieces of military equipment will be up for auction Dec. 8 in Auburn.

Auctions America is selling inventory from the National Military History Center to help the Dean V. Kruse Foundation meet a July judgment from DeKalb Superior Court, which awarded $2.9 million to Farmers State Bank of LaGrange against the foundation, according to an earlier story in The Journal Gazette.

The foundation operates the World War II museum, as well as the Kruse Automotive and Carriage Museum.

The inventory, secured by Dean Kruse years ago, came from a Belgium museum near the site of the Battle of the Bulge.

A WWII Daimler-Benz DB10 12-ton Primer mover to be featured is a rare offering, Auctions America said in a statement.

“This is truly an exceptional and unique opportunity for collectors of both vehicles and military hardware to acquire many one-of-a-kind lots and prototypes,” said Donnie Gould, Auctions America president, in the statement.

The sale will have German, French, British and U.S. items.

Tickets to the one-day auction are $10 per person for the preview day, Dec. 7, and the auction day. Remote bidding options include Internet, absentee and telephone bidding.

The museum is at 5634 DeKalb County Road 11A.
