Gas line cut; traffic diverted

The Fort Wayne Fire Department was on the scene Friday of a gas-line cut at the corner of Hawthorn and South Washington roads in the area of the Wildwood Park neighborhood.

The fire department said shortly before 3 p.m. that traffic is restricted and being diverted only from the area of the intersection, according to a statement issued by Stacey Fleming, a department spokeswoman.

The statement said there have been no evacuations, nor are any necessary, and the situation is under constant monitoring.

An estimated repair time is not yet available, the department said.

The gas line is believed to be a 2- or 3-inch line.
