Komets' winning streak ends

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Komets' five-game winning streak, their longest of the season and the third longest in the entire ECHL, was snapped with a 6-2 loss to the Kalamazoo Wings tonight.

Scoring for the Komets were Stephon Thorne, who put his own rebound into the net, and Matt Firman, whose short-handed breakaway goal was the first tally of his professional career.

The Komets were outshot 40-29 at Wings Stadium, where there was a crowd of 3,304.

Fort Wayne (7-3-1) missed out out on an opportunity to overtake Cincinnati for first place in the North Division.
