Irish men rise in basketball poll

Notre Dame moved up two spots in the Associated Press Top 25 and USA Today/ESPN coaches men's basketball polls on Monday.

The Irish, who opened the season with a 58-49 home victory over Evansville on Saturday, moved from No. 22 to 20 in the AP poll and from No. 23 to 21 in the coaches poll.

Notre Dame plays Monmouth (1-0) at 7 tonight in Purcell Pavilion in the second preliminary game of the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic.

The Irish women, who opened the season with a win over Ohio State, remained at No. 7 in the AP Top 25.
