For starters

No. 1 Indiana returns to action tonight against North Dakota State. It's part of the Bloomington Regional of the Legends Classic.

The Hoosiers opened the season with a 97-54 victory against Bryant on Friday. Cody Zeller and Christian Watford recorded double-doubles for IU.

North Dakota State also won its opener. The Bison beat Valley City State 93-47. Guard Mike Felt came off the bench to score a career-high 23 points.

North Dakota State was picked to finish second in the preseason Summit League poll. North Dakota State had three players named to the preseason all-league teams. Junior guard Taylor Braun was voted to the first team and junior forward Marshall Bjorklund and sophomore guard Lawrence Alexander landed on the second team.

The Bison return four starters and their five top scorers.

Indiana will mark the 65th anniversary of the first men's basketball game involving an African-American player in the Big Ten with a ceremony honoring Bill Garrett today.

Garrett led Indiana in scoring and rebounding each year from 1949 to 1951. He was named an All-American in 1951. He died in 1974 at the age of 45 of a heart condition. IU will present a framed jersey with Garrett's number and a commemorative print to Garrett's children, grandchildren and other family members.
