Neighbor stabbed in domestic spat

An Angola man was stabbed in the chest Wednesday morning after his neighbor called him to her apartment to break up an argument, police said.

Joseph Hagewood, 28, was asked by his neighbor to enter her home in the 1100 block of West Mill Street because her husband was “tearing up the apartment,” the Angola Police Department said.

Hagewood knocked on the door, and the neighbor’s husband answered.

Hagewood entered the apartment, police said, and the other man grabbed a knife and stabbed him in the upper right side of his chest.

Hagewood admitted himself to Cameron Memorial Hospital in Angola about 7:30 a.m.

He was listed in stable condition Wednesday night, according to hospital staff.

The other man had not been booked into the Steuben County Jail as of Wednesday night.
