Frontier phone, Net service lost in outage

An animal gnawed an overhead power line, interrupting phone and Internet service to at least 450 Frontier Communications customers in Noble and Whitley counties on Thursday, officials said.

The outage occurred about 11 a.m., Frontier spokesman Roscoe Spencer said. Crews worked to splice the line back together and service was restored by about 7:15 p.m.

Deputies at the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department said some parts of Churubusco reported having their phone service restored about 3 p.m., but other customers were still without service.

Spencer said emergency calls were able to get through because of a “rerouting” system in place.

Noble and Whitley counties are home to more than 81,000 Hoosiers.
