NEW YORK – James Bell hit two three-pointers in overtime after going 1 for 8 from beyond the arc in regulation, and Villanova beat Purdue 89-81 on Thursday night in the semifinals of the 2K Sports Classic benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project.

Villanova scored the last six points of regulation – all on free throws – to tie the game at 75.

The Wildcats (3-0) will face Alabama in tonight’s championship game. The Crimson Tide beat Oregon State 65-62.

Darrun Hilliard set his career high for the second straight game, finishing with 22 points for Villanova. Freshman Ryan Arcidiacono had 18 points for the Wildcats and Bell added 16. Bell hit his first three to break the 75-all tie and his second made it 83-79 with 2 minutes left. That started a 9-0 run that gave the Wildcats the win in Madison Square Garden.

No. 2 LOUISVILLE 80, SAMFORD 54: In Louisville, Ky., Russ Smith scored a game-high 18 points, Chane Behanan grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds and added 12 points to lead the Cardinals (2-0). Behanan matched his career best in the first half with 13, outrebounding the Bulldogs (12) by himself.

No. 6 N.C. STATE 72, PENN STATE 55: In Bayamon, Puerto Rico, T.J. Warren had 22 points and eight rebounds to lead the Wolfpack (2-0) in the opening round of the Puerto Rico Tipoff.

C.J. Leslie had 14 points and Rodney Purvis added 12 points for N.C. State. Purvis was 3 for 3 on three-pointers, and N.C. State shot 8 for 16 from beyond the arc.

No. 7 KANSAS 69, CHATTANOOGA 55: In Lawrence, Kan., freshman guard Ben McLemore had 25 points and eight rebounds, Elijah Johnson added 18 points and the Jayhwaks used a big second-half charge to win.

Kansas (2-1), coming off a loss Tuesday night to Michigan State, got off to a sluggish start against the Mocs and trailed 42-30 in the opening minutes of the second half.

No. 16 BAYLOR 84, BOSTON COLLEGE 74: In Charleston, S.C., Pierre Jackson had a season-high 31 points, and Isaiah Austin had 16 as the Bears (3-0) rallied in the second half to win at the Charleston Classic.

Jackson led the way for Baylor with six of his team’s 12 three-pointers.

NEBRASKA 50, VALPARAISO 48: In Lincoln, Neb., Brandon Ubel scored 17 points, and Ray Gallegos added 14 as the Cornhuskers (2-0) overcame a late scoring drought to hold off the Crusaders (2-1).

No. 8 LOUISVILLE 90, AUSTIN PEAY 52: In Clarksville, Tenn., Monique Reid scored 14 points in just 10 minutes as the Cardinals (3-0) won their first road game of the season.

No. 24 TENNESSEE 101, RICE 48: In Knoxville, Tenn., Meighan Simmons scored 22 points to lead Vols in their first home game of the post-Pat Summitt era.

Bashaara Graves collected 18 points for Tennessee (2-1).

No. 13 VANDERBILT 69, ALABAMA-BIRMINGHAM 54: In Nashville, Tenn., Christina Foggie scored 17 of her 19 points in the second half as the Commodores (3-0) shot 53.3 percent in the second half.
