2 hurt in Noble rollover crash

A Kendallville man and his passenger were hurt in a rollover crash early Saturday in Noble County, according to the sheriff's department.

Matthew Hayes, 22, was driving east in a 2008 Chevrolet Malibu on County Road 1150 North, east of County Road 375 East. He lost control of the car, and it went off the road. The car rolled several times, hit a tree and came to rest on its side.

Emergency crews were sent to the scene about 3:50 a.m. Hayes got out of the car through the windshield, and firefighters extricated his passenger, Angelica Garcia, 21, the sheriff's department said.

Garcia suffered neck, head and back pain. She was flown to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. On Saturday afternoon, she was in serious condition, Parkview staff said.

Hayes received back and neck injuries. Medics took him to Parkview Noble Hospital in Kendallville. He was in fair condition, Parkview staff said.
