Suspect charged in driver robberies

A Fort Wayne teen faces charges in two separate holdups of restaurant deliverymen.

Ronald Barrett, 19, was charged Friday with three felonies: robbery, aiding robbery and criminal confinement.

According to court documents, a Pizza Hut driver delivering two pizzas and a bottle of root beer to a home on Oct. 30 was approached outside by a man with a gun. The driver gave the man $20 and ran away, court documents said.

The homeowner told police he had not ordered pizza but reported seeing three men run by his house about the time of the robbery, court documents stated.

On Nov. 2, a man delivering food for China Garden was looking for an address when he was flagged down by two men saying they had placed the order. When he handed over the food, one of the men, later identified as Barrett, pointed a gun him and told him to get into the back seat of his own vehicle, according to court documents.

The two robbers then took the vehicle, with the deliveryman inside, into an alley before leaving on foot with his cellphone and wallet, which contained about $10 and a few credit cards, court documents stated.

During an interview with police, Barrett admitted to his involvement in both robberies, court documents said.

Barrett, of the 4800 block of Christofer Lane, was in custody Friday at the Allen County Jail. His bail was $30,000.
