For the police officer, the man’s body language was the giveaway. His combative stance and his abrupt hand movement hinted at the possibility of danger.The pursuit of a pickup truck near Cromwell ended late Thursday with the seizure of a methamphetamine lab and the arrest of two men, according to the Noble County Sheriff’s Department.
Officers tried to pull over the truck about 11:50 p.m., acting on a tip that a wanted person was inside.
But the driver, Shelby Jacobs Jr. of Cromwell, did not stop, and he led officers on a short chase that ended at the Stone Ridge Estates mobile home park, the sheriff’s department said.
Jacob’s passenger, Cory Gibson of Cromwell, fled on foot, and he was caught with a one-pot meth lab, the sheriff’s department said.
Jacobs, 36, was charged with felony counts of manufacturing meth and resisting law enforcement. Gibson, 21, faces felony charges of meth possession and manufacturing meth and misdemeanor charges of resisting law enforcement and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both men were being held Friday at the Noble County Jail. Jacobs’ bail was $15,000. Gibson was being held without bond on probation violations.
