Leave it to the cheerless New England Patriots to muck up a good storyline.
The Pats were as ruthlessly cold-eyed as ever Sunday in wrecking the feel-good story of the NFL season, dismantling the Indianapolis Colts' happy band of warriors 59-24 in Foxborough. Andrew Luck finally looked like a rookie quarterback, throwing three interceptions including two pick sixes in the second half, in which the Patriots outscored the Colts 35-7.
So it's on to the next thing for the Horsies and Luck, who can take away from this one that the NFL is not going to be as easy as he's made it look the first half of the season. It's a useful lesson to carry with you into the rest of the season, and Luck is a precociously quick learner.
So, they've got that going for 'em. And they're 6-4 and remain solidly in the playoff hunt. Live and learn still applies here.
