About 3 p.m. Thursday the Rev. Bill McGill looked out of his window and pondered that it was the 37th day of his 40-day fast to draw attention to violence in the community, and there had been no civilian-on-civilian homicides in Fort Wayne.One adult is in serious condition this morning after an apartment fire at 1006 Lincoln Ave., according to a Fort Wayne Fire Department report.
Firefighters were called at 12:16 a.m. to the two-story duplex building and found heavy smoke and fire, the report said. Crews rescued the victim from the burning building and that person was taken to a hospital. Two other adults safely escaped with three pets before firefighters arrived.
The fire was contained in one apartment and its attic by 12:58 a.m., the report said. The duplex had heavy smoke, fire and water damage.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
