Driver in deadly DWI seeks modified term

Just a year after he was sentenced to four years in prison for killing a local motorcyclist in a drunken driving crash, George Blair asked the court to modify his sentence.

Blair, 50, is doing well in prison, according to his attorney, and wanted Allen Superior Court Judge John Surbeck to consider placing him in a different facility to finish out his sentence.

But prosecutors said the family of Donald Boyer Jr. is adamantly opposed to any change in Blair’s location and sentence.

Boyer, an avid motorcyclist who often wrote about his passion for riding, hunting and his family on a custom motorcycle blog, died in July after a minivan driven by Blair pulled into his path at Valentine Road and U.S. 33.

Blair’s blood-alcohol concentration was 0.12 percent after the crash, according to court documents.
