George Washington leaders: Joe McDonald (14 ppg), Isaiah Armwood (8.5 rpg), Patricio Garino (3 apg)

Key matchup: Cooley, a 6-9 forward, earned a spot on the Big East honor roll this week after recording a double-double in three of the Irish’s first four games, and he has a team-high 10 blocks. George Washington’s 6-9 Armwood, who has nine blocks, will have to try to contain Cooley.

The skinny: Notre Dame fell out of the rankings after going 1-1 in the Coaches vs. Cancer finals in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center last weekend. The Irish lost 79-70 in overtime to Saint Joseph’s and defeated BYU 78-68. … Irish coach Mike Brey graduated from George Washington and was the Colonials’ captain and team MVP in the 1981-82 season. … Irish guard Jerian Grant returned to form against BYU scoring 19 points after averaging 8.7 in the first three games.
