My winter garden is coming along fine. I am growing Swiss chard, broccoli and mustard greens. The simple plastic shelters are keeping the plants just warm enough. When it rains I remove the plastic and then cover the plants back up before the next frost.
Today I harvested some Swiss chard and mustard greens. I cooked up the mustard greens and I am now realizing that mustard has too strong of a flavor. I think just a few leaves in a salad would be OK, but next spring I am going to grow just kale and chard.
The broccoli that was nearly destroyed by cucumber worms has now recovered and is doing well. I don't think I will be producing any broccoli soon but if it survives the winter, I will have broccoli in the spring.
