Indiana Do Not Call signup extended through Monday

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana residents who want to be added to a state-run Do Not Call registry have more time to sign up.

The attorney general's office says it has extended the registration deadline to midnight EST on Monday to give people more time during the busy holiday week. The sign-up period had been due to expire on Tuesday.

Signing up is designed to prevent legitimate telemarketers from calling or texting numbers, and it allows people to file complaints with the attorney general's office if they receive unwanted calls. More than 2 million phone lines are registered for the list.

The state has obtained 50 settlements or judgments since 2009 against robocallers and Do Not Call violators.

The updated list will take effect Jan. 1.
