It’s a big month for Martin Carbaugh, who was sworn in as District 81 state representative this week. He not only defeated former Fort Wayne Mayor and long-time Rep. Win Moses to win the seat, he became a big brother.
Carbaugh’s parents, Annette and Mark, legally adopted Tuwah David Carbaugh, 16, and Daniel Wayne Carbaugh, 17, last Friday. Martin Carbaugh was in Judge Charles Pratt’s court for the proceedings, happily shooting photos, then posing with the rest of the family for an official photo.
Carbaugh, 32, agreed that his family’s experience with foster care and adoption will inform some of his legislative work.
“I will bring a unique perspective, that’s for sure,” he said. “There has to be a big emphasis on adoption.”
