HUNTLEY, Ill. — Hundreds of people have sampled an unusual local delicacy this Thanksgiving: deep-fried turkey testicles.

The (Arlington Heights) Daily Herald reports workers at the Parkside Pub in downtown Huntley fried about 1,200 pounds of the turkey parts.

It was all part of the 30th annual Turkey Testicle Festival, a single-day event always held on the day before Thanksgiving.

About 4,000 people attend the festival each year.

The event, which includes beer and live music, raises money for several charities, including area youth groups and the Huntley Jaycees.

Pub owner Jeff Lovell says the breaded morsels taste best with ranch dressing or Tabasco sauce.

For those who don't want to partake in turkey testicles, there's pizza, Italian beef and Italian sausage.
