Ostarello leads Purdue women over Wake Forest

ST. THOMAS, Virgin Islands — Sam Ostarello had 15 points and 15 rebounds to help No. 14 Purdue beat Wake Forest 67-53 on Friday night in the Paradise Jam.

Chantel Poston and Courtney Moses each added 11 points for the Boilermakers (5-0), who will face No. 2 Connecticut on Saturday night.

Trailing by seven at the half, Wake Forest (2-3) cut it to 47-46 on Dearica Hamby's layup with 9:24 left. KK Houser then scored six straight points with a three-point play and a 3-pointer that started a 15-5 run. Poston closed the burst with a layup and then a free throw with 2:22 left that made it 62-51.

Purdue hit five of six free throws down the stretch to seal the victory.

Chelsea Douglas scored 16 points, and Hamby added 12 for the Demon Deacons.
