Luers wins Class 2A football crown

INDIANAPOLIS -- Bishop Luers became the first team to win four straight Class 2A state championships with a 40-28 win over Indianapolis Ritter on Friday at Lucas Oil Stadium.

The No. 5 Knights (11-4) won the program’s 11th state championship in their 15th state finals appearance.

It was Luers’ 24th straight win in the postseason, only two away from the state recorD of 26 straight.

Top-ranked Ritter finished the season 14-1 and lost in its first appearance in a 2A title game after three championships in Class A.
