CHEERS for the opening of Maplecrest Road. I will not have to sit at the crossings in New Haven and Landin Road. I will go to downtown New Haven when I have to.
PAT METZLER New Haven
CHEERS to ITT Exelis at the corner of Lima and Cook roads for always having the flags out on holidays. It is so nice to see the patriotism.
AMY JEHL Fort Wayne
CHEERS to the Fort Wayne Housing Authority for protecting its residents from secondhand smoke by making all 800 units smoke-free as of Jan. 1. We not only support the FWHA on this important policy decision, but the efforts they are making to provide smoking-cessation classes and other resources to help residents who wish to quit.

CHEERS to everyone who helped
my husband and me at the polls. When we arrived at the Washington Township fire station, there was a long line. Since my husband cannot stand for any length of time, he stayed in the car while I got in line. As the line got shorter, he started to join me but had difficulty getting out of the car. In a short time, a gentleman came from inside and told us that everyone in line agreed we should vote now. He took us in and got us set up. Everyone was so gracious and understanding; one lady said that was the nicest thing she had seen during this whole election. We agree.
DICK and KATHLEEN DeCAMP Fort Wayne
CHEERS to all who made our recent benefit auction a great success. We wish to thank the buyers, the very generous donors and all the volunteers who made this event possible.
ED FISHER American Legion Post 82
CHEERS to the Deer Ridge Elementary staff and fifth grade choir for the Veterans Day program they put on every year. It is a great experience for those students to see people from all branches who served their country. Maybe someday they will be standing in front of a group of children as we did.
RON FRITZKE Fort Wayne
CHEERS to Kingston Residence of Fort Wayne on Winchester Road, which provided a most delicious brunch on Nov. 11 to the veterans and their guests. The staff cheerfully greeted and served us.
DON, KAY, CRAIG and KIM KEEFER Fort Wayne
CHEERS to Leonard Goldstein for his letter to the editor of Nov. 15. I couldnt agree more with his comments about Richard Mourdocks scurrilous, vicious, shameless bunch of sour grapes he mouthed at his concession speech.
MARY JANE SMITH Fort Wayne
