St. Joseph United Methodist Church, 6002 Reed Road, is having a cookie walk at 9 a.m. Dec. 1.

Covenant United Methodist Church, 10001 Coldwater Road, is hosting a puppet show at 11 a.m. Dec. 1. There will be a cookie walk and craft show from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Leo United Methodist Church, 13527 Leo Road, Leo-Cedarville, is having its annual Walk Thru Bethlehem from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 1 and 2 to 5 p.m. Dec. 2.

Lifeway Wesleyan Church, 7722 Moeller Road, is having a craft bazaar and cookie walk from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Dec. 1.

Powers Church, halfway between East Dunham Road and U.S. 20 on Old Road 1 near Angola, will have a Christmas service at 3 p.m. Sunday.

Special events

Center for Congregations is hosting a workshop about how to make faith lessons stick from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 5 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 7211 Stellhorn Road. Cost is $30 a person, or $25 a person for congregational groups of three or more. Register at

North Manchester Congregational Christian Church, 310 N. Walnut St., North Manchester, is having a community breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m. Dec. 1 to benefit Gary and Krista Cagle and their family in offsetting costs related to Krista Cagle’s breast cancer.

Concordia Lutheran Church, 4245 Lake Ave., is selling Christmas trees and wreaths at the church. Hours are noon to 9 p.m. daily, except for Saturdays, when it will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The sale, put on by the church’s Men Club, will go on until all items are sold.

Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 4700 Vance Ave., is having a Taize worship service at 5 p.m. Sunday.

Larry Bower, WBCL 90.3 news director, won a first-place trophy from the Indiana Broadcasters Association for the best radio newscast in Indiana Market 2, which includes northern Indiana.

Unity Christ Church of Fort Wayne has changed its name to Unity of Fort Wayne Spiritual Center. Over the summer, the congregation also hired a new pastor, the Rev. Barry Vennard.
