Hangar fire contained at Grissom Aeroplex

A fire has been contained in Hangar 200 at Grissom Aeroplex, just outside Grissom Air Reserve Base, a spokesman said tonight.

Local emergency responders, including the Grissom Fire Department, responded to the 5:10 p.m. fire at the hangar, the 434th Air Refueling Wing at Grissom said in a statement.

No military assets are in danger, the statement said.

The hangar was turned over to the Miami County Economic Development Authority in 1994 when Grissom became an air reserve base, the statement said.

It said the hangar was being renovated by the authority in conjunction with a Texas-based aircraft painting company the statement did not identify.
