2 dead, 3 missing after NW Ohio house fire

Update: REPUBLIC, Ohio – Firefighters have found the body of a third person and are looking for two more after an early morning house fire in rural northwest Ohio.

Authorities in Seneca County believe three children under age 12 and two adults were in the house when the fire broke out near the village of Republic. That’s about 50 miles southeast of Toledo.

A fire department spokesman said a truck driver spotted smoke coming from the house and called 911 just after 3 a.m. Tuesday.

Firefighters are going through what’s left of the home and removing debris from the basement.

The two-story house is fairly isolated. It’s surrounded by farm fields and is about a quarter-mile from the nearest home.

Firefighters said the house was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived.
