Night work scheduled on I-69

FORT WAYNE – Crews are scheduled to lay striping on Interstate 69 and Union Chapel Road between 9 p.m. and 6 p.m. for two nights.

The Indiana Department of Transportation announced Thursday that intermittent nighttime lane restrictions will be in place on I-69 just north of Exit 316 beginning at 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

The work will be done in both the northbound and southbound lanes, INDOT said, noting that the lane shift that has been in place during the past several months will be removed and that the new striping will designate the permanent lane configuration.

Drivers can expect to see message boards, arrow boards and barrels.

The work is expected to be complete by 6 a.m. Sunday, weather permitting.

Because it is a construction zone, the speed limit is 55 mph in the Union Chapel Road interchange area and that temporary speed limits of 45 mph are imposed when lights are flashing.
