A long-standing south-side eyesore felt the blows of the wrecking ball Tuesday to make way for housing to help young adults who have aged out of the foster care system.It wasn’t the big jackpot, but a Fort Wayne woman had a $40,000 winning ticket in Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing.
The Hoosier Lottery said Barbara Wright had four of the first five numbers, plus the Powerball number.
The winning numbers in Wednesday night’s drawing were 5-16-22-23-29, with the Powerball number 6.
She increased her winnings by adding Power Play to her ticket for an extra dollar, the lottery said.
Sales nationwide drove Wednesday’s jackpot up to a record $587.5 million. While the two winning tickets for the large jackpot were sold in Arizona and Missouri, two tickets sold in Indiana are worth $1 million each.
Lottery officials say those tickets were sold at convenience stores in Vincennes and Highland. Those tickets matched the first five numbers but not the Powerball number.
