Lane restrictions scheduled for I-69

There will be intermittent nighttime lane restrictions on Interstate 69 just north of Exit 316, Dupont Road and Indiana 1, between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. today and Saturday.

The contractor will be applying striping in the northbound and southbound lanes. The lane shift that has been in place during the past several months will be removed, and the new striping will designate the permanent lane configuration. Work is expected to be complete by 6 a.m. Sunday, weather permitting.

INDOT reminds drivers that the Union Chapel Road interchange area is a construction zone, with a speed limit of 55 mph strictly enforced on I-69 starting about the I-469 interchange from the south (Exit 315) and about mile marker 319 from the north.

Temporary speed limits of 45 mph are imposed when lights are flashing. The penalties for speeding and driving recklessly in a work zone include fines of up to $1,000 for speeding and up to $5,000 for reckless or aggressive driving.
