Homicide data now at JG website

The Journal Gazette has expanded its crime coverage to include an online map providing details related to every Allen County homicide in 2012.

The map, showing homicide locations as well as links to related published stories, can be found at jgdata.net under the heading “Fort Wayne crime trends.”

Users can click on a map location to get the date and address of a homicide. The “View details” link provides the names and ages of victims and, when known, those charged. Case status also is given.

The map currently contains all 26 homicides that occurred in 2012, and the information will routinely be updated.

The map joins a wealth of other searchable data The Journal Gazette has added to its website this year. Included at jgdata.net are Fort Wayne crime reports, regional school standardized test scores, Fort Wayne and Allen County public employee salaries, and regional census figures.
