A blaze heavily damaged a house early Monday in southwest Fort Wayne, according to the city fire department.
Firefighters were sent to 2230 Getz Road, north of Covington Road, about 3:45 a.m.
A man who lives in the house told fire officials that he awoke, noticed smoke and got outside.
Firefighters extinguished the blaze that started in the basement and spread to the floor above.
No people were hurt, but a family pet was missing, the fire department said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
