Molesting suspect nabbed in Arkansas

A man wanted on a charge of child molesting in Steuben County was arrested Tuesday afternoon in Arkansas, according to the Steuben County Sheriff’s Department.

U.S. marshals found Joseph McDowell, 30, formerly of Angola, in El Dorado, Ark. He is accused of molesting a girl younger than 14.

The investigation that led to the charge started in October. A warrant for his arrest was issued Nov. 15, but he fled the area, the sheriff’s department said.

McDowell was being held Tuesday at the Union County Jail in Arkansas, awaiting extradition to Steuben County.
